The process includes an extruding maching (200) producing an extruded core (202) with helicoidal grooves (203). The core passes a stabilising head with fingers (206) fitting into the grooves to prevent transmission of vibration. The optical fibre is then introduced into the groove at a point (209) from a supply reel (208). The intervals (H2,H3) between the extruding machine and stabilising head, and between this and the fibre introducing point are not necessarily the same, but depend on the step of the helix, and the radius of the core. The cable is subsequently covered with an insulating sleeve. The arrangement is provided with a cooling system for the core between the line of extrusion and the position at which the optical fibres are deposited.
|
