An elongated band (7) of a flexible material e.g. rubber or spring steel has a width practically equal to the width of a brake pedal platform (2). The band has a section (8) at one end which has a rim (9) to enable it to be fixed onto the pedal platform. The band is fitted so that its remote end extends downwards towards and below the accelerator pedal (1). The band may be fastened to the floor (3) of the vehicle and with the brake pedal in the rest position the band prevents the foot of the driver from sliding under the pedal when it is moved rapidly from the accelerator pedal (1).
