PURPOSE:To prevent the explosion of gas at high temperature, and to recover excess gas as fuel gas, by introducing air into the pipeline between the outlet of the boiler and the inlet of the quenching tower thereby raising the temperature and the calorific value of the circulation gas passing through said pipeline and blasted into the quenching tower, and recovering the sensible heat of the gas. CONSTITUTION:Red-hot coke 3 is charged into the quenching tower 1 through the charging port 2, and circulation gas for cooling is introduced into the tower 1 from its bottom through the gas-distribution pipe 4. In the above process, the circulation gas is mixed with air introduced through the air-introducing pipe 9 attached to the pipeline extending from the outlet of the boiler 7 and the inlet of the quenching tower 1 to raise the content of oxygen in the gas to 1.1- 5vol%. The mixed gas is blasted to the red-hot coke 3 to quench the coke and to raise the temperature and the calorific value of the gas. The hot gas is sent through the flue 5 and the dust collector 6 to the heat-exchange boiler 7, in which the sensible heat of the gas is recovered by heat-exchange. Thereafter, the excess gas is recovered to obtain the objective fuel gas. |
