The invention relates to a swimming aid whose formal design makes it very suitable as a sporting leisure appliance. It permits any person, swimmer or non-swimmer, to swim safely in open waters such as lakes, rivers or the sea, in the horizontal, sporting back position. According to the invention, a tubular buoyancy member (1) surrounds the human body from the neck to the knees.
