The invention relates to a screening device having a drum screen which is arranged rotatably and at an inclination in a frame. In order to guarantee satisfactory operation with relatively large drum screen dimensions, the drum screen has a plurality of longitudinally extending profiles which are surrounded by rings firmly connected to the profiles. Arranged around these rings is a hollow-cylindrical screening body. Provided for driving the drum screen is a drive device which engages approximately in the centre from above on the outer circumference of the drum screen. To achieve sufficient stability, the drum screen is provided approximately centrally with a ring or two rings which are arranged spaced apart. The drive device engages in the region of this ring or these rings, specifically by means of two friction wheels. <IMAGE>
