A description is given of the process for the production of a frame element consisting of a metal frame and a welded network of metal wires secured to the latter and is suitable, in particular, for seating furniture. Holes for receiving at least some of the ends of the metal wires are formed in the metal frame, the ends of the metal wires being bent in such a way that, after introduction into the holes and the execution of a subsequent twisting of the wires, they are locked relative to the metal frame. Only then are the wires fixed in their locked position by welding their intersections.
