The invention relates to an electric welding apparatus for narrow-gap welding in single- or multi-bead weld passes by means of a contact nozzle continuously feeding the consumable electrode to the welding spot and having a curved outlet. The contact nozzle is attached to a welding power source and is provided with means for performing a rotary swivelling movement. It is rotatably inserted into a two-piece, water-cooled tongue attached to the welding power source and is connected to an electric stepping motor producing its rotary swivelling movement. The welding apparatus is suitable both for inert-gas and submerged-arc welding in a narrow gap. <IMAGE>
