An actuator for the axially-movable stem of an aerosol dispensing container discharge valve comprises a pair of toggle members 38, 39 mounted on opposite sides of the valve stem between a nozzle member 32 adapted to be fitted on the valve stem and an upstanding rim of the container, inward depression of finger grip portions of members 38, e. g. by thumb and forefinger, producing downward movement of nozzle member 32 and the valve stem to open the discharge valve. The toggle members and nozzle member may be an integral plastics moulding. Skirt portions separate from, and extending between, the toggle members are mounted on an annular rib carrying the toggle members and engaging the container rim, Fig. 1 (not shown). A removable locking plate 64 prevents accidental actuation of the valve, and may be domed to cover the nozzle member, Fig. 8 (not shown). In Fig. 9 (not shown), toggle portions 138 are independently mounted on the container rim. In Fig. 10 (not shown), the nozzle member is an angled spout. In Fig. 11 (not shown), toggle portions 138 are formed by arcuate skirt members. |
