Compounds of Formula I A-N = CH-NH 2 where A is a group of Formula II wherein R 1 and R 2 are the same or different and represent hydrogen, halogen, straight or branched chain alkyl groups having 1 to 6 carbon atoms, aralkyl, trihalomethyl or nitro, n is zero or an integer from 1 to 3, or A represents an unsubstituted naphthyl or tetrahydronaphthyl group, or a pyridyl or pyridylalkyl group of the general Formula III wherein R 3 and R 4 are the same or different and represent hydrogen, straight or branched chain alkyl or alkoxy groups of 1 to 6 carbon atoms, halogen or nitro, and n is zero or an integer from 1 to 3, which comprises reacting an ether of the general Formula IV wherein A is as defined above and R 5 represents a straight or branched chain lower alkyl group, with ammonia. The compounds of Formula I are novel with exception of those compounds where A = II and n = 0 and R 1 and R 2 = H or one of R 1 or R 2 = NO 2 , and where A = III and n = 0 and R 1 and R 2 = H. Pharmaceutical compositions having anthelmintic, antifungal and antibacterial activity comprise a compound of Formula I above or a salt thereof and a carrier therefor.
