PURPOSE:To prevent muddy water from penetrating into the interior of a drum brake so as to keep the brake drum from sliding and rust by providing a backplate of the drum brake with a buffle plate extending over the maximum diameter portion of the brake drum. CONSTITUTION:A buffle plate 17 lies across the maximum diameter portion 19 radially projected from the outer peripheral surface 18 of a brake drum 4 to be extended outside of a car body, thereby to completely cover the whole maximum diameter portion 19. Therefore, rainwater or muddy water splashed by tires 7 flows downward from the buffle plate 17 along the outer surface of the brake drum 4 not to penetrate into the interior of the drum brake. |
