FETTLING METHOD FOR CUT SURFACE OF STEEL SHEET PILES

PURPOSE:To perform fettling easily and safely at a low cost by heating both end parts of the cut surface of steel sheet piles locally and quickly, and scattering away fins by the high pressure gaseous flow along the longitudinal direction of the steel sheet piles. CONSTITUTION:After the joint part of a steel sheet pile 3 is locally and quickly heated, high velocity air is injected from nozzles 6 in the preceding end part of an air blowing device 5 in a direction A or A'. Fins 4 formed on the inside and outsides of the cut surface in the joint part of the pile 3 are blown away by the injection of said air and the surface temp. of the pile 3 is reduced to a certain extent. Further the pile 3 is cooled with water whereby the steel sheet pile is hardened simultaneously with cooling.
