MULTISTAGE CLUSTER ROLLING MILL

摘要

PURPOSE:To control a material to be rolled to good shapes by making intermediate rolls and work rolls movable in their axial center directions and providing means which apply roll bending forces independently upon the intermediate rolls and the work rolls. CONSTITUTION:Pressure is applied at both ends of work rolls 2 and intermediate rolls 3 respectively by means of oil hydraulic cylinders 11 and 12 to act the bending forces that negate the deflections of the rolls by rolling load. Then the rolls 3 bend along divided backup rolls 4 and the rolls 2 bend along the rolls 3. Thereupon the rolls 2 and the rolls 3 are moved in their axial center directions to bring their crowned parts close to the end parts of a material 1 to be rolled. The parts of the rolls 2 projecting from the material 1 are released of bending restraints by the rolls 2 per se and the rolls 3, and the parts of the rolls 2 near the end part of the material 1 bend to a projecting shape with respect to the material 1, whereby edge drops are prevented.
