A method for level measurement of tubes or sleeves filled with powders or liquids is described which uses gamma -absorption. For this purpose, a plurality of gamma -beams which are masked out by diaphragms are directed in the region of the filling onto the filled sleeve, the attenuated radiation beam is measured after passage through the sleeve, and the associated mathematical actual function is calculated and compared with a desired (reference) function.
