The invention relates to a device for the continuous pressing of a mat of material in the course of producing chipboards, fibreboards and similar pressed material. The device includes a press upper part with an upper platen and a press lower part with a lower platen. Press belts are guided circulating on the one hand around the press upper part and on the other hand around the press lower part and form a press gap with feed region. A feed gap which is half-trumpet-shaped in the vertical section is formed on the upper platen in the feed region. This feed gap merges into the press gap in the feed direction. The upper platen possesses, in the feed region, a gap chamber which is open at its feed side. Said gap chamber forms a feed tongue towards the material to be pressed. The feed tongue is curved upwards and the feed gap is defined by this means. <IMAGE>
