Periodically inclined bed as mechanical aid for the blood circulation

The periodically inclined bed promotes blood flow by means of gravity and by centrifugal force from the outside and assists heart and blood vessels in the supply of the entire cell population by selective mechanical displacement of the blood volume. It comprises a platform (1) which is pivotable about an axis of rotation (3) located at right angles to the longitudinal axis. This axis of rotation is located below the longitudinal centroidal axis of the patient and is adjustable in the longitudinal direction between the position of his/her heart (4) up to the position of his/her vestibular system (5). The speed of inclination, the magnitude of the pivot angles and the position thereof relative to the horizontal are adjustable. The imbalance of the loaded bed is balanced out by an adjustable counter-weight (7). <IMAGE>
