A rolling bearing assembly comprises inner and outer races 1, 2 a cage 4, and means which, during use of the bearing, are rotationally coupled with the cage, other than through the rolling elements 3, to drive the cage. The means comprise the shaft and collar washers 7, 8 attached thereto, and the coupling is hydraulic between the surfaces 7a, 8a and 5, 6 resepetively. The surfaces may be provided with recesses or hydrofoils for maximum torque transmission. The hydraulic medium supplied may be oil or an oil/air mixture. In another embodiment (Fig. 4, not shown), the collar washers are in the form of slinger rings, each provided with a groove and radial passages for supply of the medium to the driving surface. |
