PURPOSE:A composition that is made by adding a combination of a thermoplastic elastomer of polystyrene-polyolefin copolyer with a flame retarder to polyethylene, thus permitting much higher concentration of a flame retarder with no adverse effect on its tensile characteristics, processability and appearance. CONSTITUTION:Polyethylene is combined with a thermoplastic elastomer of polystyrene-polyolefin and a flame retarder. As a thermoplastic elastomer of polystyrene-polyolefin copolymer, is used a combination of polystyrene with a polyolefin such as an ethylene-butylene copolymer or a block copolymer with polybutadiene or polyisoprene. The amount to be added is preferably 5-100pts.wt. per 100pts.wt. of polyethylene. |
