The invention relates to a device for the treatment of respiration gas in anaesthesia equipment which has an essentially cylindrical absorber for the removal of carbon dioxide. The absorber can be changed over to short-term or long-term operation without any problems using the exchangeable tensioning pipe, passage of respiration gas taking place without additional windings.
