PURPOSE:To improve the cooling effect and the economy of a rectifier by increasing the shape of a cooling fin to be mounted with a freewheeling diode larger than that of a cooling fin to be mounted with other diode. CONSTITUTION:Three sets of series connecting circuits of thyristors 1-3 and diodes 4-6 are connected in parallel with each other, thereby forming a 3-phase full-wave mixing bridge circuit, and a freewheeling diode 7 which flows a DC side circulating current is connected in parallel with the DC output terminal. The shape of a cooling fin 9'' to be mounted with the diode 7 is constructed larger than that of the cooling fin mounted with the other three diodes 4-6. In this manner, the cooling capacity is increased, thereby increasing the allowable current amount without increasing the current capacity of the sole element of the diode 7, and improving the economy and cooling effect. |
