A compound of the formula:

wherein R<1> is amino or a protected amino group,
R<2> is lower aliphatic hydrocarbon group which may have suitable substituent(s),
R<3> is amino or a protected amino group, and
X is hydrogen or halogen;
and pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof, and processes for its preparation and a pharmaceutical antibacterial composition comprising, as an active ingredient, the above compound in association with a non-toxic, pharmaceutically acceptable carrier or excipient.
