The storage reservoir (1) is incorporated into the building structure (2) and consists of a double concrete shell (10, 11) containing water which is heated by solar panels (5). The space (12) between the shells is evacuated by a vacuum pump (16) under the control of internal and external thermostats (18, 19). The rate of heat emission into the building (2) is regulated by changing the level of vacuum in the space (15). This is achieved by admitting air.
