<p>A coupling assembly for light-wave conductors having a capillary tube positioned on an end portion of a light-wave conductor and which capillary tube is positioned within a holder tube. The holder tube is in turn secured within a centering sleeve which is formed of isotropic sintered material, polycrystalline material or monocrystalline material having a Mohs hardness which is equal to or greater than 8.5. This selection of materials prevents any deformity of the centering sleeve during tensile or compression loadings and ensures precise alignment of the ends of light-wave conductors.</p> |
