PURPOSE:To obtain a highly reliable frosting detector having water and frost proofing structure by coupling a light emitting element with a photodetector through optical fibers. CONSTITUTION:The titled device consists of optical fiber flux 11 formed by a pair of optical fibers, a light emitting element 12, a photodetector 13, a connector 14, a fixing holder 15 for the optical fiber flux 11, a frosting plate 16, an opening part 17 for the frosting plate 16, a driving circuit 18 for the light emitting element 12, and a detecting circuit 19 for the photodetector 13. When frost is adhered to the opening part 17 of the frosting plate 16 set up in front of the optical fiber flux 11, the light emitted from the light emitting element 1 through the optical fixer flux 11 is reflected by frost and transmitted to the photodetector 13 through the optical fibers. When the current of the photodetector 13 exceeds its set point, a heater circuit is turned on regarding that the quantity of frost exceeds the set point. Since the light emitting element and photodetector parts have water and frost proofing structure by using optical fibers, frosting can be highly reliablly detected. |
