PURPOSE:To manufacture the aolar battery having a high voltage electromotive force and excellent characteristics at a low cost by connecting a plurality of solar cells having active layers comprising a-silicon in series. CONSTITUTION:On a metal substrate 10, a plurality of devices which are constituted by a P type layer 11A comprising a-silicon and an insulating layer 11 comprising layered body of N type layer 11B also comprising a-silicon are separately formed. On each insulating layer 11, an active layer is formed by laminating a P type layer 12, an I type layer 13, and an N type layer 14, which have a function of one electrode, and comprise a-silicon. A transparent electrode layer 17 is provided thereon. The solar cells E1, E2, E3, ... which are constituted at every active layer are connected by the transparent electrode layer 17 in series, thereby constituting a solar battery. |
