PURPOSE:To cool a steel bar with high uniformity while maintaining straightness by providing plural headers for refrigerant in succession to a cylindrical part for passage of the steel bar, opening nozzles at specific angles of inclination and providing a cylindrical body in succession to the header on the down stream. CONSTITUTION:Unit headers B for coolants are provided in >=2 pieces in combination after a cylindrical part 1 for passage of a steel bar. Plural injection nozzles 5 having angles of inclination converging in the moving direction of a steel bar A are opened in the circular conical parts 2 of the annular hollow bodies 4 of the headers B. Further, the diameter D2 in the cylindrical part 1 of the hole part 3 of the header B2 on the down stream, the radius R2 of the disposing circumference of injection nozzles 5, and the number of the nozzles 5 are made respectively larger than the diameter D1 in the cylindrical part 1 of the header B1 on the upper stream side, the radius R1 of the disposing circumference of the nozzles 5 and the number of the nozzles. Then the bar A cooled uniformly without the formation of foam by cooling media. When the steel bar passes through the cylindrical body 6 in succession to the header B2, the stuck refrigerants are sucked away, and the decrease in the coefft. of heat transfer is obviated. |
