PURPOSE:To obtain a solid electrolyte battery, in which the electric-discharge efficiency of lithium is enhanced, by using a negative electrode prepared by impregnating a porous elecrolyte body with molten lithium. CONSTITUTION:A positive electrode 1 is prepared from a metal oxide such as lead oxide or a metal sulfide such as nickel sulfide. Next, after a solid electrolyte layer 2 made of LiI(Al2O3), a Li3N-LiI system binary electrolyte or the like is provided on the electrode 1, a negative electrode 3, which is prepared by subjecting a porous LibetaAl2O3 body having a hole diameter of 10-20mum and a porosity of 70vol% to a vacuum impregnation with molten lithium, is placed on the layer 2. After that, thus stacked body is placed between sealing plates 5 and 6, and the plates 5 and 6 are sealed with ceramic rings 4, thereby constituting a solid electrolyte battery. As a result, lithium contained in the battery can be almost completely utilized for discharge reaction by enhancing the electric- discharge efficiency of the above lithium without performing any pressing work. |
