PURPOSE:To perform long-term displaying at constant coloring density by vapor depositing a transparent conductive film on a transparent substrate, providing electrochemical coloring electrodes thereon, and setting the area resistance value of the transparent conductive film forming the coloring electrodes at <=200OMEGA/cm<2>. CONSTITUTION:A transparent conductive film 4 (InO2) is vapor deposited on an upper substrate 1 of transparent glass, and the area resistance value thereof is set at about 60OMEGA/cm<2>. WO3 film electrodes 5 of an electrochemical coloring material are provided on the film 4. The electrodes 5 are formed as electrodes A-G for digital displaying and auxiliary electrodes M, L, K. Glass of a hollow shape is used for a lower substrate 2, and is adhered in one body to the substrate 1 by means of an adhesive agent 9. A ceramic plate 8 and an electrolyte 7 are sealed therebetween, whereby an electrochromic device is obtained. If the area resistance value of the film 4 forming the electrodes 5 is set at <=200OMEGA/cm<2> and the thickness of the films 5 at >=4,000Angstrom , the reflectivity is kept constant at about 30% when applied with voltage, whereby sufficient coloring density is obtained and the long-term displaying is obtained. |
