PURPOSE:To enable to manually feed paper without installing a manual feed cassette by a method wherein a means for feeding paper is so designed as to be able to be made elevatory and as well as reversible. CONSTITUTION:Either a cassette or the large capacity sheet feeder 18 is selectively and detachably installed in the lower stage installation part 15 for paper feeding cassette of an automatic copier main body 1. A paper feed table 23 provided with the casing 24 of the feeder 18 freely ascends and descends by chain drive. The operating rod 30 of a detection switch 29 contacts with the uppermost end sheet of a pile of papers P and raises the table 23 in proportion to the feeding of paper so as to keep the uppermost end sheet of a pile of paper at nearly constant level. On the other hand, in case of manual feeding, the table 23 is lowered so that the sheet of paper at the uppermost end of a pile does not contact with a feed roller 31. A roller 40 comes into rolling contact with the roller 31 through a through hole 39 formed on the upper plate 38 of the casing 24. After the roller 31 is detached from the paper and the upper surface of the roller 31 is brought in flush with the upper surface of the upper plate 38 by means of a stopper 41 and a projecting piece 42, manual feeding is done by reversing the roller 31. |
