An asbestos millboard is composed of 60-93% by weight of asbestos fibres, and is bonded with a minor proportion of heat-resistant inorganic binder. At least 30% by weight of the total fibre content is of crocidolite or amosite asbestos of papermaking grade, and the binder is a mixture of a self-setting hydraulic cement and a plastic montmorillonitic clay. The remainder of the fibre may be chrysotile asbestos. Perforated discs may be cut from the millboard and threaded on to a steel shaft with threaded ends. Flanged collars are provided at the ends, and the whole assembly consolidated and locked to provide a roll for use in a machine drawing flat glass by the Fourcault process.ALSO:An asbestos millboard is composed of 60-93% by weight of asbestos fibres, and is bonded with a minor proportion of heat-resistant inorganic binder.
