PURPOSE:To perform frame recording suitable to a video still camera by storing charges in combination, and then generating an image signal for a share of one picture element. CONSTITUTION:Charges stored in an image pickup part are transferred by applying a pulse voltage to polysilicon electrodes 30 to enter the 4th potential area. At this time, when a little bit negative or positive voltage is applied to the electrode 30, the potential state shown by a solid line is obtained and the charges in the 4th area enter the 2nd area through the 1st area. Then, when a high negative potential is applied from the electrodes 30, the charges in the 2nd area are transferred to an area IV' through an area III'. At this time, when a little bit negative or positive voltage is applied to polysilicon electrodes 32, the charges in the area IV' are transferred to an area I'. This operation is repeated successively and the charges transferred to a storage part are transferred to a horizontal transfer register 33 by applying an impulsive voltage to the electrodes 32 to be read out through the horizontal transfer register 33. |
