PURPOSE:To increase electric power available for regenerative braking by a method wherein motors are serially or parallelly controlled for regenerative braking in view of instructions about brake initiating speeds and the magnitude of braking force. CONSTITUTION:The relationship between brake initiating speeds and the magnitude of the braking force is loaded in a linear function generating circuit 19 before a plurality of motors are parallelly or serially controlled to effect regenerative braking. The circuit 19, operating in response to instructions related to brake initiating speeds and braking force sizes, uses the equation and determines the force sizes and speeds. When a quantity thus determined is smaller than an actually detected car speed or an instructed braking force, the motors are controlled parallelly or serially and, when larger, they are controlled serially. |
