A pressure governor for a pneumatic system is proposed, in which a control piston (21) is provided for an idling valve (22), which by opening establishes an idling connection of the feed line (2) of a compressor (3) when the reference pressure is attained in the post-connected storage reservoir (5). The control piston (21) forms the movable wall of a control chamber (20), which is alternately ventilated and vented. So that a seal (24) of the control piston (21) does not adversely affect the switching function of the pressure governor in the event of a defect, the seal (24) is formed by two O-rings (25, 26) of identical size, between which a connection for a relief facility (31) is provided.
