PURPOSE:To make a dot-mode display easier to see by a method wherein a recovery time for returning a display to its original state is made longer in a dot mode than in a bar mode. CONSTITUTION:When an outside power source is switched to a built-in battery 41 and a connector 44 is disconnected, this is detected by a switch unit 45. Then a signal switching circuit 30 and a display unit 29 are controlled by the switch unit 45 and the display on the unit 29 is switched from a bar mode to a dot mode. Then, a PCM audio signal or the like recorded in VTR 23 or the like is reproduced, and the level thereof is displayed in dots on the display unit 29 with small consumption of power via recovery circuits 39 and 40, etc. On the occasion, time constants of the circuits 39 and 40 are also controlled through the unit 45, thereby a recovery time for returning the display to its original state is made longer than that in the bar-mode display, and thus a dot display easier to see is realized. |
