PURPOSE:To perform measurement rapidly with high sensitivity and high accuracy by making polyethylene glycol coexistent in a solution when antigens or antibodies, borne by non-soluble particles, are made to react on antibodies or antigens and the degree of progress of the reaction is measured by the application of a light. CONSTITUTION:Polyethylene glycol whose average molecular weight is 1,000 or above is dissolved in a buffer solution of pH 7-10 so that its concentration in the solution is 0.05-2wt%. Reacting particles of 0.01-1.0wt%, which are prepared by making antigens or antibodies borne by particles of 1.6mu or below of synthetic macromolecules, such as polystyrene, are dispersed in the buffer solution. This solution is made to react to a solution containing antibodies or antigens and put in an optical call, and the change in absorbance of the solution due to agglutination reaction is measured therein. By this method, the agglutination reaction caused by antigen-antibody reaction is expedited, and the measurement with high sensitivity and high accuracy is enabled. |
