PURPOSE:To read a double color original, by providing two different types of light emitting diode arrays of different wavelengths to a light source and a color separating circuit. CONSTITUTION:An orange/red light emitting diode array 2 is first turned off, and a green/yellow light emitting diode array 1 is turned on. Thus an original containing the information on the red and black is irradiated. In this case, the reflection factor is small at the red and black areas owing to the wavelength dependence of the reflection characteristics caused by the difference of colors. While the reflection factor is large at a white area. This reflected light is led to a photodetecting array 4 through a Selfoc lens array 3, and the white information and the red, black informations are converted into ''H'' and ''L'' binary codes respectively. Then the array 1 is turned off with the array 2 turned on to irradiate the same area as that mentioned above. In this case, the reflection is large at the red area, and as a result the white, red informations and the black information are turned into the ''H'' and ''L'' binary signals respectively. Thus a red/black original can be read by discriminating the logics of the ''L'' and ''H'' signals. |
