PURPOSE:To realize a highly effective communication system which includes terminal devices in different speeds of communication or the terminal devices which are used with variable speeds of communication, by reducing the number of ineffective signals. CONSTITUTION:The terminal devices 10 and 20 contain transmission line interface parts 103 and 203 plus channel number designating parts 101 and 201 that designate the number of occupied channels. The address designating parts 102 and 202 designate the transmission address and the destination address for each number of channels designated through the parts 101 and 201 and transmit them to the interface parts 103 and 203. Then the transmission addresses given from the parts 103 and 203 are detected at the address detecting parts 104 and 204. The channel number detecting parts 105 and 205 detect the number of occupied channels with the outputs given from the parts 104 and 204. |
