PURPOSE:To make possible the impregnation of thermosetting resin in a short time by winding a corrugated mica tape on a coil conductor. CONSTITUTION:A mica tape 3, corrugated widthwise, is wound on a coil conductor 1, impregnated in vacuum and under compression with thermosetting resin and heat-hardened. This mica tape 3 is made by sticking together a composite mica 4 and a glass cloth 5 with an adheisve. When wound on the conductor 1 the mica tape should be inclined at an angle of alpha with respect to its lengthwise direction so that its corrugation may be in parallel with the lengthwise direction of the coil. This corrugated mica tape can be produced by running a flat mica tape through a pair of toothed rolls 6, 6 from a supply reel 7 to a takeup reel 8. Dry mica tape adhered with an epoxy resin, after being corrugated, is wound on the coil conductor 1 and impregnated in vacuum and under compression with an acid anhydride-setting epoxy resin in an impregnating tank. This corrugated mica tape-wound coil is easily impregnated and no void is present even if an insulating layer 2 is dismantled. |
