1,173,854. Coiling slivers. SCHUBERT & SALZER MASCHINENFABRIK A.G. 1 July, 1968 [5 July, 1967], No. 31267/68. Heading D1F. In a drawing frame 1, a can 2 filled with coiled sliver is automatically removed and replaced by an empty can 3. On completion of delivery of a predetermined length of sliver, a motor 4 drives a travelling chain carrying a pin 51 which engages a guide 71 to move a slide 7 so that arms, as at 6 and 61, shift the cans to positions for the next coiling cycle. The motor stops when the pin 51 has passed through a dead centre position I to position II whereat the arms are freed from engagement with the cans: another motor, Figs. 2 and 3 (not shown) is then started to swing the arms upwardly and clear of the cans whereupon the motor 4 runs to return the slide 7 to its initial position and the second motor then stops to allow the arms to fall into their normal position in readiness for the next can-changing operation. In another apparatus Fig. 5, can change is effected by bars 62, 63, rotated about a shaft 64 by a motor 41 driving through a double crank mechanism comprising crank arm, connecting rod 67 and crank disc 65. On completion of the can shift, a spring 57 moves the bars back (a distance T) to a position clear of the cans and carries the crank mechanism beyond its dead centre position, in readiness for the upward swing of the bars and their return movement. |
