摘要 PURPOSE:To improve the work efficiency of manufacture of a battery, and solve the safety and hygienic problem of the manufacture by using as a catalyst for an air electrode, a metal-phthalocyanine derivative which is soluble in water and formed by connecting the benzene rings of a metal phthalocyanine with -CO- or -SO- groups. CONSTITUTION:An air electrode 3 consists of 40pts.wt. pulverized Teflon powder and 60pts.wt. a material, which contains 10% of a cobalt phthalocyanine derivative formed by connecting the outer shell benzene-ring groups of cobalt phthalocyanine with two -CO- groups as indicated in the figure. The above material is prepared by using active carbon with a specific surface area of around 1,000m<2>/g to absorb an aqueous solution of the above derivative, and drying the active carbon impregnated with the solution at 105 deg.C. Since the solubility of the catalyst can be increased by turning a water-insoluble metal phthalocyanine into its water soluble derivative, the labor for the process of making the catalyst to adhere to the active carbon, from the impregnation of the active carbon with the above solution to the drying of the active carbon, can be reduced considerably by using the above solution with high concentraion. As a result, labor and time can be saved. In addition, since water can be used as a solvent instead of an organic solvent, there is no safety and hygienic problems because only water steam scatters from the above solution during the drying.
