PURPOSE:To realize the miniaturization and easy handling of a reading device, by using at least >=2 reflectors forming an optical path and putting the last reflector within the length range at the opposite side to a solid state image pickup element. CONSTITUTION:An original is irradiated by lamps 41 and 42 held in lamp housings 61 and 62 provided at the lower part of an original board 2 made of a glass plate, etc. The image of the original is reflected by a reflector 8 and through a slit 7 and then reflected again by the next reflector 9 to reach a solid state image pickup element 11 via an image forming element (lens) 10. Then the optical image is converted into electric signals. The desired length of an optical path ranging from an irradiating point P to the element 11 is obtained by the reflectors 8 and 9. Thus the front and back travelling lengths l1 and l2 of an optical scanning stage 3 can be reduced. This can miniaturize a reading device. |
