PURPOSE:To reduce the amount of supply current without dropping the printing speed by a method in which heating elements are divided into blocks of serial groups and strobe signal to drive the heating elements is biased in an optimal combination. CONSTITUTION:A thermal head 1 consisting of plural heating elements provided linearly is divided into blocks for every heating element of a serial group corresponding to each row of heat-sensitive labels and driven for every block by a drive circuit 2. A decision portion 5 is positioned between an input unit 3 and an arithmetic processing portion 4 and judges whether the same printing content is printed in common or different printing content is printed to give an indication to the arithmetic processing portion 4. When equalizing heating times T11 and T12 with cooling times T21 and T22 in the drive circuit 2, the heating time T11 of the block 1 corresponds with the cooling time T22 of the block 2. Thus, maximum current can be reduced without dropping the speed of printing. |
