<p>Apparatus for decontaminating compressed gas having a housing (2) and alternating between decontaminating or filter and purge or regenerating cycles for respectively separating contaminants from compressed gas passing through the housing and purging the housing of separated contaminants, the housing containing a coalescer unit (37) so disposed and constructed as to coalesce fine particles of and separate oil from the compressed gas during a decontaminating cycle and be purged of separated oil by gravity drainage during decontaminating and purge cycles and a reverse flow of purge gas during a purge cycle, the housing having valved inlet (3) and outlet (4) ports for receiving contaminated and discharging decontaminated compressed gas and a bottom drain port (6) for draining separated contaminants, and an internal drain valve (15) in the housing for opening and closing the drain port, the drain valve being normally held closed during a decontaminating cycle by the pressure of compressed gas in the housing and opened by actuating gas applied thereto during a purge cycle.</p> |
