<p>The control ensures that the legal max. speed limit is not exceeded. It can only be used on vehicles which have a tachograph, and the tachograph must have a lamp which comes on when the speed limit is reached. When the lamp is lit, current is fed to an electromagnetic valve which reduces the flow of fuel from the tank, allowing through only sufficient to keep the engine ticking over. This will not damage the engine, and the tick-over speed is sufficient to keep power-assisted braking and steering systems operational.</p> |
