<p>Preparation of heteroarylbenzoxepinalkanoic acids and 6,11-dihydro- 11-oxodibenz[b,e]oxepinalkanoic acids of the formula I <IMAGE> in which X together with the carbon atoms to which it is bonded forms a benzene ring or a 5- or 6-membered heteroaryl ring which contains 1 or 2 oxygen, nitrogen or sulphur atoms; R<1> and R<2> in each case represent hydrogen or a methyl group; R<3> represents alkyl or alkoxy having 1-4 carbon atoms, halogen or the trifluoromethyl group and n represents the number 0, 1, 2 or 3, characterised in that a compound of the formula II <IMAGE> in which X, R<1>, R<2>, R<3> and n are as defined above, are heated to 50-150 DEG C in the presence of an optionally halogenated aliphatic carboxylic acid anhydride or carboxylic halide and catalytic amounts of a strong acid.</p> |
