<p>The sectional elements (3) are intended for providing a (temporary load-bearing) floor surface covering an opening (e.g. a swimming pool). Each element consists of a box section provided with two projecting portions (flanges (5,6) and one recessed portion (7) along one side and one projecting portion (8) and two recesses (9,10) along the opposite side. The arrangement is such that the projections (5,6) of one element engage the recesses (9,10) of an adjoining element whilst the latter's projection (8) engages the former's recess (7), the mutual engagement ensuring that loads are transmitted laterally between the elements in either direction whilst permitting disassembly by lifting at an angle (as shown).
