PURPOSE:To recover the charging characteristics of a photoreceptor by carrying out uniform light irradiation and supply of negative corona ions for a specified time. CONSTITUTION:The charging and dark attenuating characteristics of the photosensitive drum formed by providing a photoconductive layer of As2Se3 with a 60mum thickness over the surface of an aluminum drum are as shown by a curve 1, but as shown by a curve 2 after the surface has scratches by being rubbed with hard cloth. Then, this photosensitive drum having decreased characteristisc owing to the scraches on the surface as mentioned above is supplied with negative corona ions with 1muA/cm<2> for five minutes by negative corona charging, and irradiated uniformly with light, so that its characteristics recover nearly completely as shown by curves 4 and 5. |
