Novel 1,2,3-thiadiazole-5-carboxylic acid amide derivatives of the general formula I (I) (wherein R1 represents H or alkyl which may be interrupted by O and/or S and/or may be halo-substituted, R2 represents H, C1-C18-alkyl, C2-C8-alkenyl or C2-C8-alkynyl, C3-C8-cycloaliphatic hydrocarbon which may be fused to an aromatic or cycloaliphatic ring, or aromatic hydrocarbon which may be substituted by one or more substituents selected from C1-C6-alkyl, Hal, C1-C6-alkoxy, -NO2 and -CF3, and R3 represents H, C1-C18-alkyl or C2-C8-alkenyl, C3-C8-cycloaliphatic hydrocarbon which may be fused to an aromatic or cycloaliphatic ring, aryl which may be substituted by one or more substituents selected from C1-C6-alkyl, Hal, C1-C6-alkoxy, phenoxy, -NO2 and -CF3, C1-C6-alkoxy, C3-C6-alkenyloxy or -alkynyloxy, aryloxy, C1-C4-alkylthio, arylthio, or , R4 and R5 each representing H, C1-C6-alkyl, or aryl which may be substituted by one or more substituents selected from C1-C6-alkyl, Hal, C1-C6-alkoxy, -NO2 and -CF3) and their manufacture. The novel compounds have a herbicidal, defoliating, fungicidal and plant growth-regulating action, and accordingly may be made up with suitable carriers into biocidal preparations and may be used for treating seeds, living plants and crop areas.
