The radial compressor for refrigeration equipment, or similar rotary machine, incorporates an absorber for acoustic & aerodynamic damping. It is mounted in a ring shaped chamber between the bladed rotor(17) & the driving motor, & around the inner blades. The absorber is made of porous absorbent material & forms resonance chamber(18) in contact with the cooling medium in the diffusor zone(14), forming part of its outer wall. This resonance chamber is in contact with absorbent material which has a flow resistance the same as the product of density of the cooling medium & its acoustic speed
