发明名称 Kabelendklemme fuer wassergekuehlte Schweisskabel
摘要 1,131,557. Cable terminals. W. A. TOTO. 9 May, 1967 [13 Dec., 1966], No. 21457/67 Heading H2E. A terminal for a welding cable, including two groups of three mutually insulated conductor strands 12, 42, of opposite polarity, comprises a pair of elongated terminal halves 16, 38 formed by pressing the free ends of the cable strands of each polarity group of the cable within a tubular conductor 10, these terminal halves being joined along planar, mutually insulated, contiguous surfaces 24, 44, one of the terminal halves 16 including a longitudinal tongue portion 20 at its rearward end, the other terminal 38 including a longitudinal groove portion (50, Fig. 15, not shown) at its rearward end 48, these tongue and groove portions being complementary in form and so disposed that when the terminal halves are joined the tongue fits within the groove. Insulation is included to electrically separate the tongue and groove portions. The terminal has a substantially cylindrical cross-section over its rearward area to accommodate the outer tubular covering of the welding cable. The transverse axes of symmetry of the tongue and groove are inclined with respect to the transverse axes of symmetry of the remaining portions of the terminal halves at an angle approximating to that of the cable helix in the direction of the winding of the strands. Cooling water is free to pass through the joint via conduit 14, hole 36 in the tongue, the passage formed by co-operation of channels 26 and 46 and via opening 34 to the water hose connection. The two sections of the terminal are held together by a fastener in hole 32. A further hole 30 is provided for a transformer or welding tool connection. A rigid insulating spacer element 28 is included to maintain the relative positions of the cable strands prior to their entrance to the connector, and prevents friction and wear between the conductors 12 and the water conduit 14 in this area. An outer cable sheath 70 held by band 72 covers part of the terminal, and tube 68 which is provided to resist bending stresses at the cable-to-terminal joint. The free ends of the formed terminal halves are dipped into fused metal to unify the cable strands and the conductive sheath. Embodiments are described where the welding cable consists of two pairs of wires (Figs. 24a, 24b, not shown). Solid conductive insert elements (74, 76, Fig. 22, not shown) may be soldered to the internal bore walls of terminal openings 32 and 34 to provide rigid wear-resistant thread sections for fastener 56 and the water hose connection.
