PURPOSE:To prevent a supercharger from damage, by reducing a calorific value of the supercharger itself, that is, by decreasing supercharge pressure when temperature of the supercharger is increased to at least a prescribed value. CONSTITUTION:The intake system of an sngine 1 is constituted by a main intake system 8 and auxiliary intake system 9, and a supercharger 18 is provided in the auxiliary intake system 9. If a temperature sensor 35, detecting temperature of the supercharger 18, detects at least prescribed temperature, a pressure controller 36 is operated to decrease relief pressure of a relief valve 31. As a result, supercharge pressure in the downstream of the supercharger 18 is decreased, and sliding friction heat of the supercharger 18 is cooled by cool intake air. In this way, a calorific value of the supercharger is decreased to lower its temperature, and the supercharger can be surely prevented from damage due to its temperature rise, then its durability can be improved. |
